New year kicks off with Mid-Ohio Growers Meeting

RECAP: Mid-Ohio Growers Meeting

Every year the Mt. Hope Event Center’s schedule is packed week-to-week with an array of different types of events.  Large trade shows, benefit auctions, horse sales, 5K races, banquets and more fill the 61,000 square foot building on a weekly basis.

Now in its 6th year of operation, after opening in January 2017, the event center kicked off its 2022 schedule with the Mid-Ohio Growers Meeting.  This event was the first trade show held in the Mt. Hope Event Center in 2017 and once again, just like that first year, hundreds of produce growers and vendors showed up to this annual event.

On Tuesday, January 4 and Wednesday January 5 folks from surrounding states and local produce growers gathered to learn more about their trade, talk with over 90 different vendors and network with other growers during the two-day event.

Visitors from Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia and more gathered to converse about the latest and greatest methods of growing produce and what tools they need to have a success year ahead.

While the talk of the trade was buzzing during the show, a plethora of seminars were scattered throughout the two-day event. Dubbed as an extremely educational event, the meeting was highlighted by seminars such as how to maintain your beehives, creating the best flower combos, the challenges of growing organically and the importance of crop rotation.

The seminars were highlighted on Tuesday by Daniel Hershberger of Hershberger’s Farm and Bakery who spoke to many show goers about business relationship and how to be successful in business today.

The Mid-Ohio Growers’ mission is to provide educational information on growing and marketing fruits, vegetables and flowers for small growers. During their 2022 event they had no problem honoring this mission by putting on another great experience for all involved.
